2020-21 Parking Permit Updates

There have been many questions regarding the upcoming 2020-21 Parking Permit. DEM Parking Coordinator, Paula Gates, has compiled answers to the top commonly asked questions.   When will Transportation Services begin charging for parking?
  • Transportation Services will begin charging for parking beginning September 1, 2020 when the 2020-21 new parking year begins.
When will I receive notification about my permit assignment if I applied by June 26, 2020?
  • Parking assignment emails will be sent to team members July 20-24.
  • Team Members can go into the PAS (Permit Application System) https://www.fpm.wisc.edu/trans/permits/default.aspx to view assignments on July 20.
  • Parking assignment offers must be claimed by August 4.
What if I missed the first permit application deadline of June 26?
  • You can apply in Round 2 between July 20 and August 4. Assignment offers will be emailed August 5-6, and you must claim your lot by August 18.
  • You can apply in Round 3 between August 5 and August 18. Assignment offers will be emailed on August 19 and you must claim your lot by August 28.
  What is the Flex permit?
  • The Flex permit is a “pay as you go” program (no up front or monthly permit costs) that is designed for team members who telecommute, use alternative transportation or are not on campus 5 days a week.
  • If you plan on being on campus two or fewer days per week, the Flex program is a good option.
  • If you plan on being on campus three or more days per week, the Base lot parking is more cost effective.

What if I receive my parking permit and my work situation changes?
  • You can return the permit and apply again for a different permit type and/or parking lot. While there isn’t a guarantee you will get a permit offer after applying again, Transportation Services will be making efforts to allow for easy transitions for those who want to move from a Flex to a base lot permit. Please keep in mind employees who do not have parking are prioritized over those who possess a parking permit.
  • You can return the permit. Charges apply for cancellations after September 1. Learn more about cancellations on the Transportation Services website: wisc.edu/permits/#Cancel
