Fall Service Plans

As DEM begins the Fall semester mostly virtual, we wanted to check in with each office for their public service plans:
Office of Admissions and Recruitment
Beginning in September, OAR will offer phone and email coverage Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. We are excited for our student staff to return to assisting the office to best serve our students, families, and school counselors and advisors. OAR will continue to work remotely and in person services are suspended. A drop-box is being added to the office to allow students without other means to drop off materials and we will regularly process mail. We will continue to have our Counselors on Duty in place to answer questions every day, as well as continued one-on-one appointment scheduling with members of the counseling team. These will include virtual face-to-face meetings, phone conversations, and in very rare instances, OAR will work to accommodate a specific need for an in-person meeting. OAR will continue to offer a variety of virtual information sessions, virtual school visits, virtual open houses, and social media AMA’s, all offering Q&A components, to give students and their families opportunities to get their questions answered.
Office of the Registrar
The Office of the Registrar will continue to offer both phone and email coverage Monday through Friday from 8am to 4:30pm. Our remote services such as transcript ordering and student self-service in the Student Center will remain accessible at all hours. We are in the process of adding a drop box on the first floor and will have a rotation of staff who regularly process mail.  Upon request, when exceptional circumstances exist, we will arrange appointments for in-person services but ask that it not be promoted.  Our talented student team has worked remotely since mid-March, and the flexibility of this new environment has meant that we’ve had even more comprehensive front-line coverage.  They’ve been creative in peer-to-peer support and regular connection with professional staff using MS Teams. We’re excited to build on this when we welcome the full student team back in September.
Office of Student Financial Aid
The Office of Student Financial Aid will have both phone and email coverage Monday through Friday from 8am – 4pm. Our incredible student team is back on the front lines with plenty of support.  We will also continue to offer virtual appointments to students and their families. Current students can use the Starfish app in their MyUW portal to schedule, while prospective students and families should call our office to schedule. On extremely rare occasions, we will be able to accommodate an in-person appointment; however, we ask that it not be promoted.  A student or their family member must call our office to request special service accommodations. Financial aid advisors will also continue their ‘drop-in’ advising hours, though instead of being held at locations around campus, they will be held virtually and all will be listed on the Today@UW calendar. We will also be hosting a virtual scavenger hunt to welcome students back to campus. On their adventure students will: search the Student Job Center to find an interesting opportunity, learn about Success Services and how to take advantage of these resources, and explore the Wisconsin Scholarship Hub and complete the general scholarship application. Those who complete the scavenger hunt will receive a prize! The scavenger hunt will be open to students from 9/1-9/4.
Office of the Vice Provost, EM
Our team will have both phone and email coverage Monday through Friday, 8:30 am – 4 pm.  We are also available via MS Teams chat.
