New Tableau Enrollment Reports
The Data Reporting team from the RO is happy to announce that the new Summer 2020 Tableau Enrollment Report and Fall 2020 Preliminary Report are now available and published on our Enrollment Report webpage.
These new workbooks replace the PDF version that has served the university well. Previous reports are still available in their PDF format on the page, but the new tool provides more flexibility, which the RO anticipates will be more useful for its audiences needs.
The re-formatting of the reports occurred for several reasons, chief among them was improving the user experience. Utilizing Tableau to present data reports provides interactivity with the data and improves navigation, making it easier for individuals to find what they are looking for. Additionally, using this type of visualization allows the RO to present modern data on a modern platform, providing the office with room to grow and evolve within the technology. Aside from the technological benefits of the platform and the improved user experience, this change also ensures the office is adhering to federal standards by updating terminology and methodology, and better representing professional schools and various ethnicities.
Those who use the visualizations will see many improvements, including being able to interact with maps views, view data comparisons in a graphical view, and see differences in data depicted using color. Overall, this type of presentation is generally less overwhelming and more easily accessible for those who may have less historical or practical knowledge with the reports.
Moving forward the RO plans to support and enhance this reporting, as well as integrate Tableau visualizations for other data reports. Thanks to Maria Peters, who started this project before migrating to ADTS, and Eric Durkee, who completed it, for their hard work to help the RO better serve its audiences and present data in a more accessible manner.
