TTC (Title and Total Compensation) Project November 7, 2021 Implementation

As a result of the implementation of the Title and Total Compensation (TTC) Project on November 7, 2021, academic staff, university staff, and limited appointees will have updated job titles and new position descriptions. UW–Madison will also have a market-informed title and salary structure to attract, recruit, and retain a highly qualified workforce. Please refer to the September 28, 2021 Title and salary structure changes coming this fall email from Mark Walters, Chief Human Resources Officer. TTC Notification Letters: DEM team members will receive TTC title notification letters around November 1, 2021. Letters will include the following information:
  •         Name, Contact information, Employee ID and UDDS
  •         New Job Code and Title
  •         Current Pay Rate
  •         Business Title
  •         Salary Grade Assignment
  •         New Exemption Status (if applicable)
  •         Appeals Information
  •         Salary Increase to Minimum of Salary Range (if applicable)
  •         PD (Position Description)
  •         Link to the TTC Library, the Salary Structure, and the pay increase process—the salary structure and pay increase process links go live on November 1, 2021.
FLSA (Fair Labor Standards Act): Last week, OHR’s FLSA workgroup delivered two informational sessions for team members who may be moving from nonexempt to exempt or from exempt to nonexempt due to TTC changes. The sessions included presentations from Compensation, Payroll, Benefits, and Workforce Relations. Both presentations were recorded and links to the recording can be found below and on the FLSA website at http://hr.wisc.edu/flsa . PDF versions of the presentation slide decks can also be downloaded from this website. Here are the direct links to the recordings: Salary Structure: The market-informed salary structure will be available for team members to view online. The title notification letter will include a link to the university’s new market-informed salary structure. The Salary Structure factsheet explains the general concepts of a salary structure, salary range, and salary grade. We understand that you may have questions about what opportunities for salary increases will look like once TTC is implemented. Campus offers several mechanisms for salary increases, budget-permitting. To create a shared understanding of these options and opportunities among all team members in DEM, in the coming months, DEM Admin will work with units to develop and share documentation on the various pathways for salary increases. TTC Title Appeals Process: Team members who disagree with their assigned TTC title can work with their team leads and DEM Admin to attempt to resolve any concerns in advance of the official appeals period that starts on November 22, 2021. Team members who are unable to resolve their concerns informally can submit an official appeal via an automated appeals process. Electronic appeals should be submitted between November 22 and December 31, 2021. An overview of the formal Job Title Appeals Process is available online. Appeals resolution will be processed between November 22, 2021 and May 31, 2022. The TTC Resource Library has many useful resources and may answer questions you have. Thank you for taking the time to review the resources on the TTC website and for actively engaging in this process.
