Annual Banked Leave Conversion (formerly ALRA) for Academic and Limited Staff
Academic staff and limited employees with a 12-month appointment are eligible to bank vacation into a Paid Leave Bank, formerly known as Annual Leave Reserve Account (ALRA), after they have completed 10 or more fiscal years of continuous employment.
Employee Self Service:
You are able to enter your leave conversion through ESS similar to entering leave. When the conversion is submitted it will auto- approve and process as long as you qualify and have the hours available to convert. If more hours are entered than are available an error message will appear. You are able to enter your hours no later than October 31; however, we are requesting that you do so during July 2023. Please check your available balance, making sure that any hours you entered for June have been approved so the balance is accurate. Banking of leave comes from your vacation carryover or vacation balance on June 30th. Team members will be able to view your eligibility to bank leave in your portal’s absence balances screen from July 1-September 30, 2023. Eligible team members will receive an email reminder from Paula within the next 2 weeks.

Eligibility for ALRA:
- Academic and Limited Staff become eligible to bank up to 40 hours beginning with the 10th fiscal year of continuous service
- Academic and Limited Staff become eligible to bank up to 80 hours beginning with the 25th fiscal year of continuous service
