OAR and ISS Host Chancellor’s Admitted Student Receptions in Seoul and Bangkok
This June, OAR and International Student Services (ISS) held Admitted Student Receptions in Seoul and Bangkok to greet future Badgers in coordination with the Chancellor’s 175th events. Blaine Harvey from OAR and Samantha McCabe, the Director of ISS, were graciously joined by Chancellor Mnookin and Derek Kindle to present to incoming students about the Wisconsin Experience and celebrate the long connections between both countries. Korean and Thai undergraduates and alumni also volunteered their time to meet students, take questions, and talk about their experiences on campus for the incoming students.
Many participants remarked how grateful they were for the opportunity to meet past, current, and future Badgers; feel more at ease with their transition to college; and most of all, get excited for UW–Madison this fall.
The success of these events would have been possible without the time and commitment from all of the OAR teams. Blaine and Samantha McCabe would like to give a special thank you to all the OAR, DEM, International Division, and WAA team members that worked in person and behind the scenes to make these events a huge success for our students, families, and alumni. Those in attendance felt like UW–Madison truly came to them through these special events!
