OAR Attends NACAC in LA
This September, the Office of Admissions and Recruitment had the opportunity to represent DEM and UW–Madison at the National Conference for the National Association of College Admission Counseling (NACAC) in Los Angeles, California.
Several of our functional areas were able to meet new colleagues, see old coworkers, and hear from a variety of speakers from all corners of our profession.
As an office that fosters leaders in our profession and maintains the level of excellence our institution is known for, it’s important for us to reflect on our successes and areas of growth and to hear from our peers and the counselor community as they advise the next class of graduates.
We were also reminded of the immense privilege we have working in the profession, as the notable and esteemed keynote speaker, Irving “Magic” Johnson, shared his experience working with his counselors prior to college and how professionals like us can make an immense impact in the lives of others.
In the same year of the expansion of the Big Ten, it was only fitting for a number of OAR members to head to the LA Memorial Coliseum on Saturday for our first football game against the USC Trojans in almost a decade.
Just as we look forward to future matchups in all sports across the Big Ten, the same can be said for future conferences where we can live out the Wisconsin Idea and share a little magic with our peers and stakeholders in the profession.
