OAR Fall Event Successes
This fall, the Office of Admissions and Recruitment hosted a number of on-campus events including our largest one to date.
The fall Experience Wisconsin Open House took place on Friday, October 18, and was the largest on-campus event OAR has hosted to date, with 1,551 students and guests.
Experience Wisconsin Open House is a full-day visit program that offers prospective students and their supporters a glimpse into a variety of opportunities and resources available at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Students build their own schedule from a selection of sessions that cover a host of topics, including housing, academic information sessions, admissions information sessions, and campus tours.
On October 21, OAR hosted a group of students from Milwaukee Public Schools. The first event of its kind was a great success, with 72 students and seven counselors join for a day of information about UW–Madison and applying to college.
This fall, OAR also hosted the annual Transfer Advisor Conference on October 24, welcoming 38 college advisors from two-year institutions in Wisconsin and beyond. Advisors were able to learn more about assisting their students in transferring and transitioning to our extraordinary Badger community, meet with other advising professionals and transfer admissions counselors, gain detailed knowledge of UW–Madison program-specific admissions policies, and participate in a mock application review with a UW–Madison transfer admissions counselor.
A big thank you to the OAR Events Team for their leadership in these events, the OAR Transfer Team, the OAR Multicultural Outreach & Recruitment Team, and other staff members in OAR and DEM who participated to help make these events possible.
