Residence for Tuition – November 2018
As of November 27, 2018, all undergraduate applicants who submitted complete residence applications by the early decision deadline have been classified or have been contacted for additional information. To date, there are 650 undergraduate applicants who have submitted the Common Application but still need to complete the secondary Residency Application. These students have not been reviewed.
The Non-Resident Tuition Appeals Committee concluded the Fall 2018 season on November 7, 2018, and Residence Counselors are finalizing correspondence with unsuccessful appellants. The formal appeal process gives students the opportunity to appeal their non-resident tuition status. This process generally involves students providing information on how they have established residence in Wisconsin and evidence rebutting the presumption that they are remaining in Wisconsin primarily for school.
A total of 31 appeals were taken to the Committee this fall, of which 12 (39%) were successful. The total number of appeals taken to Committee has remained fairly steady, and the 39% rate of success this fall is consistent with the five-year average of 41%.
