Leave Reminders as we Approach the End of the Fiscal Year 2026 (June 30, 2026) for Academic Staff, University Staff and Limited Team Members
- Legal Holidays—There are 9 days of paid legal holidays during the fiscal year July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2026.
- Workday will automatically load Legal Holidays for all leave-eligible team members (Academic Staff, University Staff, and Limited)
- How to View Time Off Balances and Projected Balances in Workday: https://hr.wisc.edu/hr-guides/for-employees/how-to-view-time-off-balances-in-workday/
- Go to Workday homepage and click on the Employee Profile icon in upper right corner
- Click View Profile
- From the employee profile, click on Absence under your profile icon
- Click on the Absence Balance tab in the center (ish) of the screen
- Note your balances and especially Carryover Balance and Personal Holiday Balance As Of Date which need to be used by June 30, 2026
- Vacation Carryover—Vacation Carryover balances need to be used by June 30, 2026, or they will be lost.
- Personal Holiday—Personal Holiday hours need to be used by June 30, 2026, or they will be lost.
- Vacation—Vacation balances will transfer into the Fiscal Year 2027 and change to Carryover Vacation and must be used by June 30, 2027.
- Note that Carryover Vacation and Vacation are both listed as Vacation in Time Off requests. Workday will automatically use Carryover Vacation first.
- 2027 Fiscal Year starting on July 1, 2026—Academic Staff and Limited Term team members will be allocated 176 hours of Vacation and 36 hours of Personal Holiday for the new 2026 fiscal year. University Staff Vacation hours (amounts based on years of service) and 36 hours of Personal Holiday will be loaded for the 2027 fiscal year.
