The Student Employment Team at the Office of Student Financial Aid has been busy planning several new initiatives, workshops, and other opportunities for student employees and their managers.
Work Study Maximization
Justin Mumford met with the School of Human Ecology to partner on a pipeline to get eligible work-study students utilizing their award complete required academic credit and gain key work experience.
Justin also met with SuccessWorks within L&S to continue to bolster a partnership to share work-study eligible contacts and collaborate in assisting students to earn work-study.
WiGROW Workshops
This year, there are a total of six WiGROW Workshops available to UW–Madison Student Employees to learn more about themselves and develop key transferable skills from their work. The first workshop was on ‘Wellness in the Workplace.’
The Office of Student Financial Aid and Office of Human Resources jointly administer WiGROW, which supports the learning and professional development of UW–Madison student employees. More information about WiGROW and the workshops can be found at the OHR website.
Student Employment Local Summit
The Student Employment Team is planning to host a local summit, inviting local Student Employment professionals to campus to engage in a half-day of conversation on best practices within Student Employment.
The conversation will be centered around a prominent researcher, Dr. Mariana Savoca of Stony Brook University. Dr. Savoca has consulted with universities across the country about career development for student employees.
