04.22.20 Mental Health Wellness Update
While we all are telecommuting, OSFA will be sharing some ideas to boost your mental health during these difficult times. If you know of any videos, podcasts, articles, events, ideas, etc. that would be perfect to include in these emails, please send them along to Erica Tisdale at erica.tisdale@wisc.edu.
One Way to Improve Your Day: Stay hydrated. Studies show that dehydration increases stress in your body and can result in feelings of anxiety and irritability. Consider setting up reminders to drink enough water. If you use Chrome, you can add an extension that will remind you at specified intervals – https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/water-reminder/kbcogmlnjaoecibenadekhkeelgdpmnb?hl=en. Or if you would prefer an app for your phone, we suggest the adorable Plant Nanny – https://apps.apple.com/us/app/plant-nanny/id590216134 or https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fourdesire.plantnanny2&hl=en_US.
Campus/Community Resource: The Department of Psychiatry has compiled a curated collection of resources from a variety of sources to support the mental health and emotional wellbeing of our community during this difficult time. Check out the resources here – https://www.psychiatry.wisc.edu/covid-19-mental-health-resource-guide-support/.
Cute Video of the Week: What Does a Sloth Say – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aaqzPMOd_1g.
Podcast of the Week: Working from Home in a Time of Corona Virus with Toni Jones a Calmer You Podcast – https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/ep-94-working-from-home-in-time-corona-virus-toni-jones/id1330001815?i=1000469194125. This podcast takes about 35 minutes to listen to.
