Spring 2020 Special Grading Option During Disruption

This semester the university introduced a special grading option in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. This option will be available to everyone enrolled in Spring 2020 courses that award A-F grades. The opportunity to convert a letter grade to SD (satisfactory-disruption) or UD (unsatisfactory-disruption) opened on May 9th and closes on May 22nd and we have already seen students begin to elect this grading option.  When students choose this option, their letter grade will be converted to one of the two new grades. The SD grade will count for all University General Education, degree/major, certificate, and PhD minor requirements and will satisfy future course prerequisites. The UD will not count for any credit. Neither of the new grades will be included in GPA calculations. To support campus with this change, the Office of the Registrar developed a FAQ page and KB document outlining the implications and process associated with electing a SD or UD grade.
