Update on Credit Evaluation Services Transition
As many of you are aware, in late October credit evaluation services transitioned from the Office of Admissions and Recruitment (OAR) to the Office of the Registrar (RO). The new Credit Evaluation Services (CES) team, housed within the CRES unit, processes course credit and AP/IB test credits for incoming freshmen and transfer students, as well as re-entry and continuing UW–Madison students.
The new CES team has been busy transitioning and training in all aspects of credit evaluation, and in addition, they continue to accomplish the day-to-day tasks and implement projects. This past month brought on a new surge of work to complete evaluations for a new transfer class. Nearly 1,400 transfer students had credit evaluations. In an already busy time, as of June 10th, the team was able to complete 1,356 credit evaluations. During those credit evaluations, over 25,000 courses were evaluated from 523 different colleges in 17 different countries.
The team is also currently working to roll out Transferology to replace the Transfer Information System (TIS). Transferology is an online tool to view course equivalencies, enter and store coursework, and even request an evaluation of transfer work against a program. Transferology will be fully accessible on July 1st.
This transition and the continued work would not have been possible without assistance from our friends in Admissions. A huge thanks to the transfer team, operations team, communications, technical staff, and front desk workers in OAR, particularly Lori Christianson and Brad Richardson for their continued work to support CES beyond the initial transition of information and work. This has really been an all-hands-on deck effort between the OAR and RO to complete such high level work in a short amount of time.
