Reminders for Tracking Furloughs

Due to COVID-19, the Chancellor has required all University of Wisconsin–Madison faculty and staff to take between 3 and 6 unpaid furlough days between May 15 and October 31, 2020. The number of furlough days are based on salary and are prorated by the start and/or end date during the furlough period. Pay is reduced during the pay period in which a furlough is taken for FAASLI (Faculty, Academic Staff, Limited Appointees) team members and University Staff Exempt team members. University Staff non-exempt team members have their furlough deduction spread out between all pay periods during the furlough time period. Since HRS is not yet programmed to track furlough hours used and balances, the Divisional Admin team is tracking your hours and will send reminders in order to ensure that all furlough days are taken and that team members don’t have all of their furlough taken out in October. Any unused allocated furlough hours that have not been reported by October 20, 2020 will result in either mandatory furlough or further action to accomplish the furlough mandate.
