Credit Evaluation Services Receives Recognition

In mid-October we celebrated National Transfer Student Week. During the week, the Transfer Transition Program provided the opportunity for individuals to recognize those who have helped or impacted transfer students, such individuals were given the title of Transfer Champions. Members of the campus took the time to recognize the Credit Evaluation Services team, as well as individual team members, as Transfer Champions. One commendation came after the CES team recently led a training for Transferology – a course equivalency tool that helps students make informed decisions on transferring to another institution – to 144 advising staff members, which attendees said was highly informative and provided a welcoming space to learn and ask questions.

“The Credit Evaluation Services staff have been wonderful campus partners to the advising community. They are great colleagues and we are so fortunate to have them at UW–Madison!”

About 95% of UW students have some type of transfer credit by the time they earn their Bachelor’s Degree. UW Transfers bring so many diverse life experiences, critical knowledge, rich cultural traditions, and unique perspectives to UW–Madison. These students are an important population at the university; they are vital to our mission and the perpetuation of the Wisconsin Idea.

“In our outreach to School/Colleges, departments, and advising units across campus, we have been welcomed with excitement and a willingness to collaborate in an effort to share information, improve transfer credit practices, and support students transferring credit to UW–Madison.”

Ongoing collaborations with the Office of Admissions and Recruitment and the Transfer Transition Program will be critical to important DEM and university goals. Continually working with campus partners to assess and improve transfer credit services will have significant impacts to the recruitment and yielding of future badgers, it will improve time degree, reduce student education costs, and lead to a better Wisconsin Experience for our undergraduate students.
