Celebrating, Remembering, and Learning about Diversity in January 2021
Here are just a few opportunities coming in January to celebrate, remember, and learn about diversity in our community.
- January 4 is World Braille Day. Learn more about this tactile form of communication and its importance to the human rights of the blind and partially sighted community. More information about services available to UW–Madison students with vision disabilities can be found at the McBurney Disabilities Resource Center.
- January 21 is Martin Luther King Day celebrating the life and legacy of this important Civil Rights Leader. Celebrate Dr. King by virtually visiting the Martin Luther King, J. Memorial. Keep an eye on the Morgridge Center’s website for details on upcoming campus events.
- January 27 is International Holocaust Remembrance Day. On the anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau Concentration Camp we pause to remember the genocide of six million Jewish people and eleven million others by the Nazi regime. The Moss/Weinstein Center for Jewish Studies focuses on the history, religion, politics, society, and culture of the Jewish people right here on campus.
