Publishing the Summer Schedule of Classes
Traditionally, the Schedule of Classes for each term is built in two phases: Initial Call, during which departments schedule classes and immediately after which Curricular Services in the Registrar’s Office assigns General Assignment classrooms; and Final Call, during which departments refine their planned offerings before the Schedule of Classes is released to the public via Course Search & Enroll.
The timeline to build and release the Summer 2021 schedule was compressed due to ongoing pandemic response, so Curricular Services worked with campus curricular representatives to build the term’s schedule in a single “COVID Call” period from mid-December to early February. The Summer 2021 Schedule of Classes was released on February 22 with a robust set of offerings representing over 1800 courses and more than 8300 class sections. Most group instruction will be remote as in Summer 2020, but curricular leadership in departments, schools, and colleges identified dozens of group-instruction classes that will be taught in person or hybrid this coming summer based on pedagogical needs.
