Help With Forgiveness!

Loan forgiveness, that is! In partnership with Ascendium, a number of OSFA employees recently hosted two webinars on the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program and its temporary waiver. The responses to and interest in the webinars were overwhelmingly positive – over 1400 registered and 600 attended! The direct feedback received was even more encouraging than the numbers. Participants reported finally having hope about PSLF and feeling more confident about pursuing it:
  • You were all great and have really inspired me to take a look at PSLF.”
  • “This is going to save people thousands of dollars.”
  • “Just gratitude for the time and energy to do this. It has such an impact to us who may be eligible and was the first time I could get clear responses to something that has been so confusing.”
  • “This presentation brought me hope.”
  • “I feel a lot better about it now and understand what I need to do to qualify .”
  • “I left with a better understanding and confidence that I am taking the right steps forward.”
  • “I was in the session for myself…but I even got tons of info applicable to my sister.”
  • “The presenters explained PSLF in a way that I have never heard it explained before, making the topic less intimidating and easy to understand.”
  • “I appreciate my employer offering this information about the program.”
  • “I really appreciated hearing there were specific forms available for UW and demystifying of the whole process. I feel better equipped to enroll in the PSLF program!”
As a result of the PSLF waiver, more borrowers are now eligible for loan forgiveness but many are still unaware! OSFA encourages all DEM members with outstanding federal student loans to look into the PSLF program and its temporary waiver to see if you may be able to benefit. We’re is extremely passionate about spreading the word about this amazing opportunity.  If you missed the webinars, they’re both available on OSFA’s YouTube channel. This is VERY time-sensitive, too, since the waiver is set to expire after 10/31/2022! Please contact Emma Crawford at emma.crawford@wisc.edu if you’d like a copy of the slides and/or if you have any questions about the PSLF program.
