UW–Madison Policy Updates effective July 1, 2022

There have been several updates to UW–Madison policies that went into effect July 1, 2022. See below to learn more about the updates. Policy UW-3039, Hosted Meals UW–Madison Hosted Meal Limit Increases In response to rising costs, inflation, and a rapidly changing restaurant industry, UW-System has recognized the need to update our meal limits. The hosted meal limit structure is slightly different; previously, the categories were in-state and out-of-state meals, but now we have these three categories:
Expense Within Wisconsin All Other Continental US All Other Locations – Including International
Breakfast $20 $23 $35
Lunch $21 $24 $40
Dinner $35 $43 $60
Refreshments/Break $12 $15 $20
Please note that Hawaii and Alaska are considered part of “All Other Locations – Including International.” Refreshment break per person maximums have been increased and are now broken out based on the location of the event (previously they were limited to one standard per person amount across the board). Policy UW-3016, Air Travel The Associated Fees section of Policy UW-3016, Air Travel, will be updated to reflect that additional fees associated with booking a coach/economy aisle, window, or exit row seat are payable/reimbursable at any time, and are no longer limited to purchases at check-in and at the gate.
  • Aisle, Window, or Exit Row Fees: Additional fees associated with booking a coach/economy aisle, window, or exit row seat at check-in or at the gate are payable/reimbursable. This is not to be confused with fare class upgrades to economy plus/economy comfort, which are typically not allowed.
