Inclement Weather Guidelines and Policy Reminder 2022-2023
While many team members continue to work partially remote or fully remote, we wanted you to be aware of the inclement weather guidelines published by campus (https://policy.wisc.edu/library/UW-5055). A couple things to note:
If you do have to go to campus and the weather is less than ideal, please work with your supervisor on how to best accomplish the work that needs to get done.
Remote Work During Inclement Weather
For team members who have an approved remote work agreement, they can continue working remotely during an inclement weather event provided they are able to do so (i.e., no loss of power or internet).
For team members who typically work on-site but are not essential during an inclement weather-related event or closure, they may work remotely provided they are able to do so based on the duties and responsibilities of their job and have the permission of their supervisor to do so. Once the inclement weather-related event has ended, these team members are expected to return to their regular on-site work.
For team members who are not essential during an inclement weather-related event and who cannot perform the duties and responsibilities of their jobs from home doing remote work, they should follow the guidelines above in this notice regarding use of leave and/or make up schedule time within the same work week.
- Saying Frosty the Snowman was in your driveway and not willing to move does not constitute inclement weather.
- Claiming Rudolph and the other reindeer were having a snowball fight in your driveway/street does not constitute a reason to claim inclement weather.
- Saying the Heat Miser and Snow Miser were arguing about which weather is best, and the Snow Miser is winning, does not constitute inclement weather.
