Student Employment Diversity Forum
The Office of Student Financial Aid Student Engagement team will host the Student Employment Diversity Forum on Friday, March 3rd. While it is the 3rd Annual Diversity Forum for student employees across campus, it is the first year the event will be hosted in person! In October 2020 and 2021, the Forum was held virtually. With great excitement this year’s event will be held in person in Gordon Dining & Event Center during one thought-provoking afternoon. Students, current UW–Madison student employees or not, all play a part in creating an inclusive Badger community for all and are encouraged to attend the forum. The Forum will provide an opportunity for students to exchange ideas while engaging in a variety of topics on diversity, identity and inclusion.
The year’s event will be held from 1:00pm-4:30pm and offer students the opportunity to listen to a keynote and engage in a series of workshops. We are honored and anxiously awaiting the keynote address from our very own Joselyn Diaz-Valdes! The keynote address will be followed by two concurrent breakout sessions where students can choose to attend sessions presented by colleagues from a variety of campus partners. Check out the breakout sessions HERE.
Additionally, this year all of DEM student employees will be invited and encouraged to attend a lunch and workshop, prior to the larger Forum, from 12:00pm-1:30pm. This time is designed to bring our student teams together and reflect on our roles in creating an inclusive community. DEM student employees will have the pleasure of hearing from Derek Kindle, as well as participating in a workshop presented by the Office of Inclusion Education.
We are looking forward to connecting with our student employees throughout this afternoon. Please encourage any and all student employees to attend the event: https://studentjobs.wisc.edu/se-diversity-forum/.
