Upcoming Virtual Admissions Events
Through the end of June, we continue to offer virtual counselor/transfer advisor events. We have offered 10 in total, and our final three include an international counselor information session and information sessions for transfer advisors in Illinois and Minnesota. We plan to continue these into July and August. These events showcase the academic and extracurricular opportunities at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Our counselors share campus updates, discuss recent class profiles and trends, answer questions about our admissions process, and allow the counselors and advisors to ask questions they may have about our university. Select events also feature a presentation and Q&A with the team from the Office of Student Financial Aid.
Every other week, through at least July, we plan to offer Q&A panels featuring our Wisconsin Admissions Volunteers (WAVs). Our current students share their experiences and answer your questions about life on campus. These virtual Q&A panels will alternate with current student “Ask Me Anything” Q&As on Instagram.
Every Wednesday through July we will offer “next steps” panels for students who have been admitted from the wait list. These panels include representatives from University Housing, the Office of Student Financial Aid, Credit Evaluation Services, University Health Services, and the Center for the First-Year Experience. These sessions are designed to allow our newly admitted students to ask our campus partner experts questions about each of their next steps towards enrollment. In addition, we offer weekly Admitted Student Information Sessions every Tuesday through the first week in July. We anticipate these will continue throughout July as the wait list remains active. These events are hosted by admissions counselors and feature a presentation and live Q&A.
Our Virtual Admissions Information Session for prospective students and families features a comprehensive presentation covering academic offerings, the admissions process, financing one’s education, and student life. Live Q&A is held at the end of the presentation. These prospective student info sessions are available every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday through the first week of July. We anticipate these will continue throughout July.
Our Transfer Student Information Session allows prospective and admitted transfer students to learn more about the University of Wisconsin–Madison and gain insights into the transfer admissions process. Questions are taken at the end of the presentation. These are available every Thursday through the first week of July. We anticipate these will continue throughout July.
On Wednesday, July 24, we are offering our first virtual Experience Wisconsin Open House event. This is our first virtual open house which will be able to serve more audiences and is able to offer larger events for prospective students earlier in the year than our traditional fall events. The virtual event is an a la carte-style day, where students build their own schedule from a selection of sessions that cover a host of topics. Topics include housing, financial aid, academic information sessions, virtual campus tours, admissions information sessions, student panels, and campus organization and resource information sessions. Each session will include live Q&A. We anticipate offering at least one virtual Experience Wisconsin Open House per month for the foreseeable future. We have 23 campus partners participating in our first event on July 24.
