GT eForms coming to SIS!
Do you hear the buzz of summer? No, it is not cicadas in late summer. The buzz is the eForms project powered by GT eForms from Gideon-Taylor. DEM implemented the software last month and is excited to leverage it for a simplified and improved experience for students, staff, and faculty.
The new eForms allow DEM, along with our SIS partners the Bursar office, DCS, and the graduate school, to not only improve business processes, but also retire some custom modifications and software.
With the new, easy creation of business forms within SIS, eForms can leverage any data in the SIS system including any custom data and automatically update data directly in SIS. An eForm can be created primarily from simple configuration on a few PeopleSoft pages. One of the most powerful features of eForms is the ability to display different sections of the eForm based on particular values of a field. An eForm can also be designed to update transactional data in SIS.
Below is an example of an eForm that has already been created in a development environment.
Once the dependent/independent field has been selected, additional parts of the form will be displayed once a value is selected.
The eForms working group has been established by the SIS steering committee to implement the eForms software and provide guidance on standards and best practices. The eForms working group members are: Registrar’s Office – Kim Alling, Aaron Apel, Financial Aid – Chris Lopac, Eric Gentz, Undergraduate Admissions – Tom Geis, Bursar’s Office – Ina Dick, DoIT – Todd Friske, Steve Forbes. The eForms working group is currently working on standards and procedures for the new eForms software.
Several team members completed the GT eForms training in June. The training consisted of learning the functionality of the software and the technical hooks for the eForm and integration with SIS transactions.
Each department has identified some initial eForms as higher priority. Expect to see some of the eForms in SIS production in the second half of 2020.
Bursar’s Office – Item Type Request, Tuition Remission, Third Party Contracts
Financial Aid – Professional Judgement, Teacher’s Pledge, and SAP Appeal
Registrar’s Office – Legal Name Changes, Birthdate Changes
Undergraduate Admissions – Self-Reported Test Scores
If you have an idea for an eForm, please feel free to reach out to a member of the eForms working group.
