The Student Employment Team in OSFA hosted the Student Employment Summer Summit on Wednesday, July 12th. Despite the rain over 115 staff from campus, off campus work study partners, and colleagues from across the state joined in an afternoon of learning and networking to enhance the student employment experience. Dr. Terrell Strayhorn’s keynote on College Students’ Sense of Belonging garnered a standing ovation and calls to action highlighting that belonging is a basic human right. Six workshops were offered in the afternoon including:
Facilitating Success for Neuordivergent Students in Their Workplace
Engaged Leaders Through Employment
De-Centering Whiteness
Supporting Students in Peer Supervision- panel of students
The impact of the day is evident in participant’s shared takeaways and word cloud of how they were feeling at the end of the event. We’re excited to plan for next summer! If you have workshop ideas for next summer, please reach out to kari.temkin@wisc.edu.
