Focus on Bias: 6.7.19
The Office of Student Financial Aid distributes a weekly email focused on implicit bias with some videos to watch, articles to read, and other events around campus and the community that we encourage you to attend if your schedule allows.
Video of the Week: My Identity is A SuperPower – Not an Obstacle TEDTalk by America Ferrera – https://www.ted.com/talks/america_ferrera_my_identity_is_a_superpower_not_an_obstacle/discussion. This video takes about fourteen minutes to watch.
Article of the Week: Committed to the Status Quo by Allison Bell Bern – https://isthmus.com/opinion/opinion/white-madison-residents-dont-want-to-be-racist-but-we-dont-act-for-real-change/. This is an opinion piece that talks about the issues and work that needs to be done here in Madison, which was published just days before the recent disturbing incident involving the Madison Police Department and a 17-year old Madison boy.
