Staff represent RO on various boards and committees

Aaron Apel is once again serving as the 2019-2020 Office of the Registrar representative on the Orientation Advising Team (OAT) and on the Advising Architecture Review Board (AARB). OAT is “responsible for planning and implementing the SOAR advising program, as well as exploring the links between SOAR and the fall semester Academic Orientations,” while AARB “serves the university as a coordinating body charged with accepting, reviewing, and making recommendations regarding current and future advising technology initiatives on campus.” In addition, Aaron is serving on the search & screen committee for a new position of Advising Systems Administrator in the Office of Undergraduate Advising. Aaron’s additional work on two OUA committees, as well as his knowledge and experience with the scope of the student enrollment and advisor tools, make him a perfect fit for this committee. Katie Block is serving as the co-chair, and Office of the Registrar representative, on the 2019-2020 Crossroads Committee, along with Cindy Holzman from University Housing. The mission of Crossroads is to serve as “a problem identification and solution focused group specifically recognizing those areas of problems where the student academic experience intersects with the student life experience. The committee evaluates existing campus policies, procedures and systems and recommends changes that will improve the student experience.” Katie Paar is serving as the 2019-2020 co-chair of Council on Academic Advising (CAA) along with Jackie Murray, Associate Director of Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) Advising. CAA is one of six campus-wide committees that “assist in setting the vision and implementing improvements for the Office of Undergraduate Advising.” Its membership consists of 35 mid-level leaders across a wide representation of campus advising and advising partner units. This is the first time in CAA’s history that a co-chair has been someone from outside an advising unit or office.
