Sick Leave Reduction for Failing to Report Leave Usage
With the end of the fiscal year, FAASLI team members must have all leave reports completed so that sick leave is not reduced. Hopefully everyone is up-to-date on Leave Reports since team members and managers/supervisors receive notices from HRS regarding missing leave reports.
UW–Madison Sick Leave policy requires faculty, academic staff, or limited appointees to file leave reports. If a leave report is not filed in one or more months, the employee’s sick leave is reduced.
Any Faculty, Academic Staff, or Limited (FAASLI) appointee who fails to file a report on leave usage as required by UW–Madison policy in one or more months of any year shall not be permitted to accrue sick leave for that fiscal year in an amount exceeding the cap established by Wis. Statutes. (i.e., 8.5 days if annual basis). This cap, in most cases will result in a reduction of sick leave earned for that fiscal year. FAASLI who receive a reduction in sick leave will be notified of the reduction and may request a review of the decision. The request for review must be submitted within 30 days of the receipt of the notice email.
