CourseLeaf Updates Enhance Lumen

This summer the Curricular and Academic Management Services team worked with CourseLeaf to make updates and enhancements to software. CourseLeaf is the academic catalog software that is used to gather information about courses. UW–Madison refers to the faculty-facing interface for the software as Lumen. Lumen is the gateway for faculty, curricular representatives, and governance bodies to update, track, and approve functions related to courses, curriculum and programs. Lumen in turn provides information to the student interface, Guide. Enhancements made to Lumen:
  • Creation of a new form for departments to request placement-by-exam practices
  • Nightly provisioning for the direct import of user data
  • The ability to request the Sustainability and Practical Learning attribute within the Course Proposal form
  • Within the Lumen-Program form, include an integration point to the Guide for any program wanting to include a 3-year roadmap
  • Creation of templates within the Lumen-Program form for schools and colleges
