Putting the SIS in OASIS: Cross Campus Integration to Improve Data
The Office of the Registrar and School of Medicine and Public Health (SMPH) have been working together to correct, define, and create necessary data integration between their OASIS (Online Access to Student Information and Scheduling) and the campus SIS (Student Information System). This project expands across campus and will work to ensure accurate, reliable data to reduce institutional risk, timely reporting, and better student service.
Currently there is no timely integration between OASIS, SIS and AMP. There has not been a comprehensive review of their integrations since their implementation, and the irregularity of OASIS and SIS synchronicity has been creating discrepancies in student data. This project will make these corrections and ultimately provide a source of truth and data exchange between the systems.
While the project has recently been focused on the front end of data collection and the updated enrollment load to replace an aging tool, it is nearing the testing phase. The project team will address, in the near future, updates and integrations for student enrollments, enrollment setup, admissions decision, grading, and posting degrees.
The project team is also starting to review the strategy for data cleanup and move from a strategy to an executable plan. The team will correct data using technical and manual updates to SIS, then set up processes to review and catch known issues. The amount of automated and/or manual tools used have yet to be defined.
