Sick Leave Reduction for Failing to Report Leave Usage (Faculty, Academic Staff, and Limited Appointees Only)
September 30, 2021 is the deadline for final submission and approval of missing/late leave reports (report leave usage and no leave taken) for FY21 (July 1, 2020-June 30, 2021) to avoid permanent reduction in Sick Leave balances.
- Team members who do not submit required leave information by the deadline will not be permitted to accrue sick leave for FY21 in an amount exceeding the cap established by Stat. § 40.05(4)(bp)1 (i.e., 8.5 days if annual-basis appointment or 6.4 days if academic year-basis). This cap, in most cases will result in a reduction of sick leave earned for FY21.
- Team members with missing leave reports have received reminders every two weeks (since Single Payroll implementation) from UWSS-Service Operations listing their missing leave reports for FY2021 (July 1, 2020-June 30, 2021). Prior to Single Payroll implementation, reminders were received monthly.
- Although it is expected that leave entries are made as leave is taken and no leave takes are entered monthly, team members are ultimately given until September 30th to complete missing leave reports for FY21 to avoid a permanent reduction in their sick leave balance.
- Team members who receive a sick leave reduction will be sent a notification email from UWSS-Service Center.
- Team member complete the Request to Review Sick Leave Reduction form and submit it to Ann Bradshaw or Paula Gates within 30 days from the email notification date. Instructions will be on the form.
- Ann and/or Paula will forward a ticket to UW-Shared Services.
- UW-Shared Services and Workforce Relations will complete reviews and the final decisions/reviews will be sent to Ann and/or Paula.
- Ann and/or Paula will provide the results of the review to team members within 60 days of the original request.
