Welcoming New Team Members – September
Office of Admissions and Recruitment
Please join OAR in welcoming Hyewon Chung – our newest Operations Team member. Hyewon joined the team last Wednesday, September 8th.
Hyewon is originally from southern California, and moved to Madison a few years ago. She is a graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles and earned a bachelor of arts in Political Science. She earned her Masters in International Education from the University of Alcala de Henares.
We are so excited to welcome her to the Operations Team.

We will have a new admissions counselor joining the Admissions Services team next week.
TJ Braxton will join the team on Monday, September 27. TJ is a Colorado native, and a recent graduate of UW–Madison who double majored in Political Science and African American Studies while graduating with honors in both majors. As a student, he worked as a student historian for the University Archives where he did extensive research on the history of UW–Madison’s diversity initiatives and developed his own critiques and solutions to the university’s struggles in creating a more diverse campus. He also was a co-facilitator of Chadbourne Residential College’s first year seminar and worked as an administrative assistant for the College of Letters and Science Undergraduate Academic Deans’ Services. We’re excited to have TJ’s experience, positivity, and critical thinking skills as we welcome him to the Admissions Services team.
Please join OAR in welcoming TJ to the office, and feel free to introduce yourselves both virtually and in person.

Please join OAR in welcoming our two new Graduate Admissions Representatives – Mackenzie Brunson and Christine Olson. Both joined the office earlier this month. Mackenzie and Christine will support application review and the call center/customer service this fall. They will also learn the information session and support case management late fall/early spring semester.
Mackenzie Brunson (she/her). I’m from Morehead, Kentucky and I went to school at the University of Kentucky. I earned a dual degree in History and Anthropology and minored in International Studies. I’m in the ELPA master’s program at UW and focusing on student affairs. I love hiking, baking, and watching Netflix!
Christine Olson (she/her/hers). My hometown is Omaha, Nebraska and I went to school at Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln, Nebraska. I got my degree in Biology with minors of environmental studies and writing. At UW, I’m in the Global Higher Ed program to get my master’s! A few hobbies I have are finding the best coffee shops in town as well as catching up on the best Netflix series.
Additionally, our remote readers started with the office last week and will be completing their second week of training tomorrow. This is a national and 100% remote team, and we’re grateful for their support in completing a high volume of review every year. I have included all reader names below, along with their current home state. Please share a warm welcome if you have yet to meet them virtually!
