International Recruitment Initiatives

Our main focus for Fall 2021 continues to be diversifying our applicant pool outside of the U.S. With another cycle of virtual recruitment, we were able to attend visits and fairs in 26 countries, across five continents. We also partnered with EducationUSA to offer a series of workshops on topics related to studying in the U.S.A. & the admissions process across Sub-Saharan Africa, Timor-Leste, Germany, India and Korea. The team also offered one on one meetings with students from their territories to answer specific questions about UW–Madison and assist with the application process. With UW international travel restrictions lifted, our team hopes to attend Spring fairs and visits in person. We will also be shifting our attention to yielding our admitted international students, often most effective when done in person abroad. Since the ongoing situation with COVID is fluid around the world, we will continue to monitor the status in our key and developing markets, as well as the testing protocol for those countries that are open to visitors. Select members of the international team will continue to work with our partners in the International Division to select the sixth cohort of the King-Morgridge Scholars program.
