Sick Leave Reduction for Failing to Report Leave Usage (Faculty, Academic Staff, and Limited Appointees Only)
September 30, 2023, is the deadline for final submission and approval of all missing/late leave reports (report leave usage and no leave taken) for FY23 (July 1, 2022-June 30, 2023) to avoid permanent reduction in Sick Leave balances.
- Team members who do not submit required leave information by the deadline will not be permitted to accrue sick leave for FY23 in an amount exceeding the cap established by Stat. § 40.05(4)(bp)1 (i.e., 8.5 days if annual-basis appointment or 6.4 days if academic year-basis). This cap, in most cases will result in a reduction of sick leave earned for FY23.
- Team members with missing leave reports have received reminders every two weeks from UWSS-Service Operations listing their missing leave reports for FY2023 (July 1, 2022-June 30, 2023).
- Although it is expected that leave entries are made as leave is taken and no leave takes are entered monthly, employees are ultimately given until September 30th to complete missing leave reports for FY2023 to avoid a permanent reduction in their sick leave balance.
- Team members will receive a final reminder to submit missing leave reports from UW-Shared Services in mid/late September.
- Sick leave reduction is finalized in October.
- Team members will be notified via email of the sick leave reduction after it has occurred and the process for requesting a formal review.
