End of an Era: Atlassian Jira and Confluence Replacement Evaluation Period Wraps Up

A cross-functional evaluation team was created to review the different replacement options for the on-premise versions of Atlassian Jira and Confluence and ensure the potential replacement solutions met the Division of Enrollment Management’s, as well as our external SIS partners’, “Must Have” and “Nice to Have” requirements. Over the past couple of months, the group evaluated Atlassian Cloud products (both Jira and Confluence), GitLab for work and project tracking, and UW–Madison KnowledgeBase for documentation. In mid-November the team finalized their evaluation and wrote a recommendation for leadership. Review of the recommendation and selection of a product is projected to be completed by mid-December 2023. Once a solution is selected, we will work to identify the next steps and to develop a transition plan for a smooth changeover. More information will be shared as decisions are made. As a reminder, both platforms will not be available after January 31, 2025. All users will need to migrate off these services by December 2024.
