Helen Faith, Director of the Office of Student Financial Aid, and Katy Weisenburger, Assistant Director of Federal Awards, met with Wisconsin legislative staff in Washington, D.C. David Bagby, Director of Federal Relations, assisted them by scheduling and accompanied them to the meetings. They met with legislative staff from the offices of Senator Baldwin, Senator Johnson, Representative Fitzgerald, Representative Gallagher, Representative Grothman, Representative Pocan, Representative Steil, Representative Van Orden – that’s 8 total visits!
Everyone wanted to talk about the FAFSA Rollout and how its impacting our students. They also asked what, if anything, they could do to help. Flexibilities with Gainful Employment reporting was discussed since Federal Student Aid has extended the FAFSA Rollout. While the FAFSA Rollout dominated the conversations, increasing the federal Pell grant and eliminating loan fees were also discussed.
