A Magical Gathering: Student Employment Summer Summit was a hit!

The Student Employment team in the Office of Student Financial Aid hosted the 5^th annual Student Employment Summer Summit.  With 135 attendees, including colleagues from other UW system schools, the turnout was great but even more importantly the engagement was stellar! The team pivoted quickly and didn’t allow flight cancellations prohibiting the keynote speaker from attending in-person to dampen the day. Nicole Cardoza artfully wove magic tricks into her keynote addressing how to find the magic within ourselves and our student employees to suspend disbelief and make an impact. The diverse lineup of workshop topics brought together new and familiar campus partners, and even presenters from UW-Parkside and the University of Iowa. There was an air of excitement, idea generation, best practice sharing and reconnection among colleagues. The Student Employment team is proud of the event and affirmed that our work to uplift student employment and support student supervisors across campus is welcomed, appreciated, and matters.
