Cutting edge page combines data

The Student Athletic Summary (SAS) Page project was started because the Athletic Certification process needed a tool to streamline the process and provide a central location for data and document storage. The Office of the Registrar needed to develop a tool that met the needs of the Academic Eligibility staff and worked within the technical ecosystem available.   This new page is cutting edge at UW–Madison and combines data into a more streamlined form. The multiple systems (e.g. DARS, SIS, the NCAA portal) our academic athletic eligibility specialists work with each have unique data elements, configuration and formatting needs, creating a cumbersome process. Additionally, this work is high profile and it is essential that the work be done accurately and in a timely fashion, highlighting the need for this project. The project provided the following value,
  • Administrative benefits, such as centralized data storage and maintenance
  • Forwarded organizational goals for the RO, DEM, and campus
  • Streamlined and clear tool to use for Student Athlete academic eligibility
This tool refines the processes for certifying eligibility for student athletes, reporting to NCAA, Big Ten, and others, and improving the data entry and retention processes. It also reduces manual efforts and allows for greater interoperability of data. Congratulations and gratitude to the whole project team: Amy Landgren, Cori Stewart, Dale Redmond, Jonny Khammanivong, Maria Peters, Priya Sachithanandam, Scott Krause, and Tristin Marotz!
