New eForm supports previously approved policy
In May 2019, the University Curriculum Committee (UCC) approved a departmental placement exam policy establishing the practice of creating and posting the results of a department-administered placement exam. This policy was meant to work in concert with the existing Credit by Departmental Exam Policy, which had been approved in 2017.
In March of 2021 the UCC approved the first request for a department to administer a departmental placement exam, which was initiated via a Lumen proposal form created by APIR. To better support this effort and the submission of Credit by Exam and Departmental Placement Exam results, RO Student Services team member Dana Stav worked with RO Application Development & Technical Services team members Priya Sachithanandam and Heather Hollister to convert the previously used Credit By Exam Qualtrics form into an eForm.
This eForm not only provides a better user experience for the departmental staff who are submitting results by pre-populating information and making the required information more seamless to submit, it also automates the posting of earned credit (for Credit by Exam) and Placement Test Score results (for Departmental Placement Exams) to the student record. This removes a significant amount of manual work that was previously executed by the team in Student Services.
Because of these benefits authorized departments have already started using this form. To date, departments using the new eForm include Animal and Dairy Science, Chemistry and Math (for Credit by Exam) and Asia Languages and Cultures (for Departmental Placement Exams in Chinese, Filipino, Hindi, Hmong, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Persian, Thai, Tibetan, Urdu and Vietnamese).
